WALKING IN THE GRACE WE HAD IN THE BEGINNING

How did you receive the Lord? Did you do anything that merited His acceptance of you? Not likely. As Christians we tend to add so many things to our salvation that we eventually lose sight of the simplicity of it. When we lose this, then we lose the joy and wonder of our walk with God. It becomes covered with layers of condemnation.

"As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6-7)

Paul’s counsel to the Colossians, and to us today, was to continue to walk in the Lord the same way we had when we first received Him. This takes simple faith and a daily application of His grace and acceptance. Every answer to prayer and every kind of help or healing we need, must be received on the same bases we received Him in the beginning.

The way to become really rooted in this, becoming built up in it brick by brick, keeping in line with what we were originally taught, is through thanksgiving. Being grateful for our salvation, so rich and so free, is the key.

Take time to really thank Him today for His acceptance of you, separate from all you do, without any merit of your own. Breathe it in, taking deep drafts of it into your thirsty heart. It will change the way you walk this thing out.
